About

Welcome to the Fitzherbert Farmhouse – a newly renovated boutique staycation destination in the heart of Swynnerton, Staffordshire.

Our location is the perfect starting point for exploring the heritage and surrounds of Staffordshire – from the infamous Potteries, local attractions and gardens, to the rolling landscape – and as a destination for wonderful food, drink, and a restful night’s sleep.

The renovation

Our renovation of the Fitz Farmhouse started in the Autumn of 2023 in collaboration with Lord Stafford’s Estate. The Farmhouse was sandblasted to reveal the original brick, and the interior fully restored, revealing its many beautiful original features.

Through the main entrance, located on the side of the building, you enter our reception lounge and shop area. To the left, the four ‘Farm House’ rooms are located; through a hidden door to the right you’ll find the ‘Cottage’ bedrooms nestled; and via a separate entrance entirely, our ‘Port House’ bedrooms are located.

Food & Drink

Offering you the perfect escape for food-lovers, the Farmhouse is located next to our pub, the Fitzherbert Arms. Well known throughout Staffordshire and beyond, the Fitzherbert Arms is run by husband and wife duo Rebecca and Connor. You can expect exceptional food, a great choice of drinks (Cheshire Cat Pubs and Inns having just being named as the ‘best drinks offering’ in the UK 2024), and a very warm welcome.

Just a short drive away is our sister pub, the Mainwaring Arms. Founded in circa 1850 and renovated by Cheshire Cat Pubs and Inns in 2022, the pub sits proudly on the Whitmore Estate in the village of the same name, adjacent to the beautiful village church of St Mary and All Saints. In the distance is Whitmore Hall, the seat of the Cavanagh-Mainwaring Family, who named the Mainwaring Arms after their famous ancestor, Admiral Rowland Mainwaring. Like the Fitz, The Mainwaring welcomes walk-ins, has seasonal menus, and is dog friendly.

The bedrooms

All of our bedrooms are named after fincas in Porto – a nod to the expansive port collection of the Fitzherbert Arms. Choose from a ‘Cosy’, ‘Comfy’ or ‘Roomy’ bedroom, and explore our seasonal stay packages for the perfect escape.
